I opened a Shopify account and paid for one month on 31 May. Mid way through I decided to paused it as I am busy at work and I have no time to work on it. My account is paid for up to 30 June inclusive. Today is 30 June and I tried to cancel my account because I have no time to work on the online store.

I downgraded my account half way through so I have a partial credit of $9.50. And, instead of issuing me a partial refund Shopify says I own them another months bill before my account can be close.

This is because Shopify issues their invoices 1 day ahead of time, so my next months bill was issue today, and since it have been issue I have to pay for it? If this is the case can any companies issues invoices x-number of years ahead of time and force customers to pay it before their account can be close?

This is a scam.
